BIOGRAPHY

Soprano Diana Skavronskaya was awarded “Best New Discovery” for the role of Mimi in Pocket Opera’s production of La bohéme, which also won “Best Opera Performance” in the Audience Choice Awards 2023–2024 by San Francisco Classical Voice.

In 2026 season, Diana performed three “The Voice of Maria Callas” recitals with the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva under the direction of Maestro Constantine Orbelian, General Director and Principal Conductor of the New York City Opera. The program, dedicated to the legendary soprano Maria Callas, featured arias and duets by Puccini, Verdi, Donizetti, and Bizet.

In 2024, Diana Skavronskaya returned to the role of Mimì in La Bohème with Pocket Opera & Cinnabar Theater in California as well as with Opera San José.

In 2019 and 2023, Diana had an honor of singing at New York City’s Carnegie Hall – at Weill Recital Hall and at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage respectively – two of the most renowned stages in the US.

In the 2018/19 season, Diana performed a wide range of roles. She made her debut as Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro at The Great Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. She starred as Mimì in La Bohème with Batumi State Musical Center, and appeared as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at Complesso Monumentale San Pietro di Marsala. It was also her return to the roles of Mimì in La Bohème and Tatyana in Eugene Onegin at The Great Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Diana is a laureate of several international competitions, including first prize at the Boris Tchaikovsky International Competition (2018), third prize at the Romansiada International Vocal Competition (2018), and first prize at the Ippolitov-Ivanov International Competition (2014).

She graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and continued her training at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center, where she further developed her operatic technique.

Diana's journey has been enriched by learning from an array of esteemed vocal coaches such as Galina Pisarenko (Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater), Makvala Kasrashvili (Bolshoi), Dmitry Vdovin (Bolshoi), Kristina Mkhitaryan (Soloist of Bolshoi, Royal Opera House, the Metropolitan Opera), as well as Julia Hunt-Nielsen (San Francisco Opera Theatre), who refined her vocal skills and praised her dedication and artistry.

Diana’s experience prepared her to assume lead roles in the operatic repertoire. She had the privilege of collaborating with voice experts, accompanists, conductors, and stage directors of the highest professional caliber.

Diane's exceptional talent, determination and resilience are testament to the magnitude of her success today.

From Mozart to Puccini, Diana has shown her versatility and passion for this art form through her extensive repertoire.

PERFORMANCES WITH OPERA MAESTROS

Diana had the honor of performing at the prestigious Yuri Bashmet Festival in Sochi, sharing the stage with acclaimed Bolshoi soloists and world-renowned artists.

Among the highlights are working with such notable figures as (from left to right in the top photo) Sebastian F. Schwarz (Artistic Director of Teatro Regio Torino), Eva Wagner-Pasquier (German Opera manager, great-granddaughter of R. Wagner and a great-great-granddaughter of F. Liszt), Dmitry Vdovin (Artistic Director of the Bolshoi), and Lubov Orfenova(pianist, Merited Artist of the Russian Federation).
